About the Ramayana CE
The Critical Edition (CE) of the Valmiki Ramayana was compiled by the Oriental Institute of Baroda between 1951 and 1975. It reconstructs the epic’s earliest recoverable text by comparing over 2,000 regional manuscripts.
While it remains the undisputed benchmark for academic research, the edition has drawn criticism for omitting popular regional episodes that hold devotional and cultural significance.

My Translation Process
Here's the simple, albeit tedious, process I follow:
- Translate line-by-line from Sanskrit.
- Eliminate redundant content.
- Refine the English phrasing.
- Fix grammar inconsistencies.
- Enrich vocabulary.
- Restructure into logical sections.
- Post them on this website.
Free Doesn't Mean No Effort!
Each section takes about half a day of meticulous work.
Yet, I choose to make this freely accessible as a matter of principle—I just don't believe in monetizing direct translations. The price tag is zero, but quality remains a priority.
