The Tale in Short

Narada's narration (continues):

King Dasaratha desired to appoint Rama as his heir apparent. Yet, bound by duty and promise, he exiled his beloved son instead. Rama's devoted brother, the humble Lakshmana, followed the hero. Endowed with every auspicious grace, the paragon of womanhood, Sita, also accompanied her husband Rama, just as the star Rohini follows the moon.

Meanwhile, King Dasaratha, consumed by profound grief for his son and lamenting his absence, departed for the heavenly realm. Upon the king's demise, Bharata governed the kingdom from Nandigrama while awaiting his brother's return.

The entire Ramayana is narrated briefly here, which is omitted to prevent redundancy. This section is often chanted as the Sankshepa Ramayana hymn.

Having fulfilled his divine purpose in the forest, Rama ascended the Pushpaka chariot and journeyed toward Ayodhya. Unbinding his matted hair at Nandigrama, the pristine Rama, accompanied by his brothers and Sita, reclaimed his rightful throne. The world was swept with jubilation and boundless delight.

In the time to come, by performing the magnificent Ashvamedha Yajna, which requires lavish gold and the bestowing of billions of cows to scholars, this scion of the Raghu clan shall fortify this royal dynasty a hundredfold.

He shall uplift all orders of society in this world, anchoring people firmly in their duties. Having ruled the kingdom for numerous years, Rama shall ascend to the Supreme Divine realm.
